BMW Z4 Shooting Brake: Unique for Villa d’Este

In the upcoming Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este event held at Lake Como, BMW will showcase a special edition vehicle called the Z4 Touring Coupé, featuring a Shooting Brake design.

BMW has been a long-time sponsor of the prestigious Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este event, known for its exclusivity. Each year, the Bavarian automaker unveils a unique concept car created specifically for this occasion. For the 2023 event, BMW has prepared the Concept Touring Coupé, a Shooting Brake model inspired by historic BMW vehicles and showcasing significant Italian craftsmanship.

The body of this one-of-a-kind two-seater vehicle was meticulously handcrafted by skilled artisans from Superstile, located in Turin. The front grille of the vehicle features double grille struts, resembling the BMW 328 that triumphed in the Mille Miglia race in 1940. The designers aimed to evoke nostalgia for this iconic victory, as the Eisenach-built BMW car won the race again 70 years later.

The rear of the vehicle proudly displays the “Touring” emblem, paying homage to the original 02 Touring models produced from 1971 onward. Furthermore, the Touring Coupé’s paint, named Sparkling Lario, was individually mixed, with “Lario” being the local name for Lake Como. The paint incorporates countless tiny blue glass fragments to create a beautiful, liquid-like deep shimmer.

A roof edge spoiler extends the coupé roofline downwards, while a prominent diffuser painted in the vehicle’s color accommodates two angular tailpipes. Under the hood, the Touring Coupé boasts an exhaust system that signifies BMW’s celebration of the era of refined combustion engines. Propelling this unique vehicle is a 3.0-liter six-cylinder twin-scroll turbo engine, delivering 340 horsepower. Technically based on the BMW Z4 M40i, which is exclusively available as a roadster, the Touring Coupé offers a distinct variation not found in the standard coupé variant produced by Toyota, known as the visually distinct Supra.
