Peugeot has responded to customer demands by introducing hybrid versions of its popular models, the 3008 and 5008, in order to address concerns about fuel consumption and environmental impact, particularly in urban areas. Following a trial period, Peugeot has now commenced sales of the Hybrid 3008 and 5008 in Spain, during which the vehicles’ electrical systems were tested and refined.
Both SUV models utilize a hybrid system consisting of a PureTech gasoline engine with three cylinders, 1.2 liters in capacity, and 136 horsepower. Additionally, an electric motor with 29 horsepower and 55 Newton meters of torque is incorporated.
The electric motor is supported by a small 0.4 kWh battery, enabling the vehicle to travel up to one kilometer without using gasoline, provided the speed does not exceed 30 km/h. The e-DCS6 automatic gearbox manages the coordination between the various components. The electric motor performs two primary functions: assisting the petrol engine during strong acceleration and propelling the vehicle at low speeds in urban environments.
In terms of fuel consumption and emissions, the 5008 Hybrid has an average consumption of 5.7 liters per 100 kilometers according to WLTP cycle tests, with emissions reaching 129 grams of CO2 per kilometer traveled. The Hybrid 3008 boasts slightly lower figures, with an average consumption of 5.6 liters per 100 kilometers and emissions of 126 grams of CO2 per kilometer.
Peugeot claims that compared to the PureTech petrol engine with similar specifications, the hybrid models achieve a 15% reduction in consumption and improve certified emissions by 21 grams of CO2 per kilometer. Both models feature a 4×2 configuration and do not offer all-wheel drive as an option.
Peugeot has already made the two hybrid versions, the 3008 and 5008, available for sale in Spain. The prices are relatively competitive, starting from 35,540 euros for the Peugeot 3008 Hybrid Active. The two models are offered in various trims, ranging from the base trim Active to Allure.
Standard features include 17-inch wheels, eco LED lights, dual-zone automatic climate control, four electric windows, tinted rear windows, electric and heated rearview mirrors, a media system dashboard, a start button, cruise control, and an involuntary departure warning system.
